Steve Sonshine was born in 1948, in Brooklyn, New York. He is an architect, and has carried a camera on his shoulder since his days at CCNY. His love of the city, it's people, it's buildings, and it's art, is clearly prominent in his photographic images. These key ingredients, along with his extensive travels reflect the core of his life's work.

In 1995, while attending a photographic trade show, he was introduced to a new method of reproducing his images. He found an exhibit on how to transfer his photography onto water color paper. The results were spectacular! He was immediately inspired by the process. He started experimenting with different manipulations of the process. All the while, he was in close contact with the folks at Polaroid. The use of Polaroid film is an integral part of the process. His enthusiasm was contagious, and shortly thereafter Polaroid has sent a team of experts to investigate what Steve was accomplishing with their film. They were so impressed with his Image Transfers, that they offered to sponsor him as a Polaroid Image Transfer Artist. This meant he would be published world wide in their Polaroid Magazines. Steve had expressed a desire to teach the prowess as well. In the past ten years, he has taught workshops in art guilds, craft centers, universities, and photography studios. His work has been published in Photography Magazines, books on Image transfers, and trade publications.

Steve Sonshine currently owns the ArtWorks Gallery, in Danbury, Connecticut. He is able to incorporate his architectural training in his corporate interior designs, his love of art which surrounds him, and his own photographic images, which he exhibits regularly in the gallery.
